I want to access Internet via satellite connection. Waht should I do?
Содержание |
1) Choose one of our satellites.
It is important to choose one of our satellites according to geographical location of your hardware. Please make sure that coverage is best for you using our coverage maps
Following satellites may be used with your account one at a time:
2) Tariff plan.
Use one of our tariff plans that fits your needs best. Here are direct links to plans disclosures for each of our satellites:
!!! Important notice: Leecher plans have a Committed Information Rate (e.g. Leecher-16 has 16 kbit/s CIR). There's no Committed Information Rate for Surfer plans. Current bandwidth on these plans is calculated by sharing overall bandwidth among other customers using the same tariff.
Tariff plans can be switched at the Member's Area
3) Connection type
We currently offer the following ways for establishing connection:
- VPN-connection. Common type of connection. You get a dynamically assigned real IP-address. We offer fixed IP-address service for recurring fee of 10USD per 6 months.
- OpenVPN-connection . Alternative to VPN client integrated to Windows operating system. OpenVPN takes advantage of Microsoft VPN by many reasons. It doesn't depend on GRE-protocol which is commonly resctricted by transit operators, it always works in private networks and uses less bandwidth for service data.
- SlonAx-accelerator. Many cellular networks use NAT to provide Internet access making a VPN connection useless. That's why we have our own software called SlonAx. It works great in cellullar networks and significantly reduces service traffic on terrestial line.
- IP-IP/IP-GRE tunnel. There is no incoming service data on terrestial line when using IP-IP or IP-GRE tunnel. A publicly routed IP address on terrestial interface is required for this type of connection. We only support *nix and Cisco IOS tunnel configuration because there's no embedded tunnel software in other OSes.
- [Static/unsupported]. A static IP address from our pool is spoofed on terrestial interface. This is possible only when spoofing is not restricted on your terrestial line. When using this type of connection requests packets are being sent using terrestial line and response packets are being routed to our satellite teleport to be sent via DVB.
4) Open an Account
We've made it simple for you to open an account and start using our services as soon as possible. Please click here to complete an account application form. It is recommened to fill all fields of the application form to help us restore your account credentials faster in case you forget them.
5) Hardware setup
Once you complete your account application you get an email message with you account credentials and DVB receiver setup.
Conventional DVB cards setup how-to (beta)
Please note that if you are not able to lock to a signal you should check you DVB receiver settings and dish size according to the coverage map of the satellite you have chosen.
!!! When using SkyStar2 receiver newer than rev2.6 after changing transponder frequency, symbol rate or polarization you get a lock but no DVB data you should perfom driver reinstalation. If you are not sure which revision of SkyStar2 you have we advise doing the same.
!!! Be careful entering PID value. Every tariff plan group has its own PID. You can always check correct PID value in your members area next to the tariff plan name.
Your DVB receiver must receive at least 5.5 dB to establish seamless connection. We are not able to guarantee semaless connection if the signal is less than 5.5dB and your terrestial chanees does not meet minimun requrements as described here
6) Connection setup
Please use guides you can find on our main Wiki page.
!!! Please note that we do not support tunnel connections under Windows and static IP connections.
Please use the following giude to Slonax setup: http://wiki.satgate.net/index.php/SlonAx
!!! To make Slonax work properly you should have following: – you account balance is not zero; – sx_client.conf is in Slonax directory; – locked signal; – correct PID entered; – Slonax is not blocked by firewalls and antivirus software; !!! Your terrestial chanees must meet minimun requrements as described here
